Job Title:
Maintenance Mechanic Job Description The Maintenance Mechanic performs routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery and equipment in an automotive manufacturing environment. This role focuses on diagnosing and repairing mechanical, low-voltage electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, supporting equipment installations, and maintaining accurate maintenance records. The position also involves using and improving a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to optimize maintenance processes and minimize equipment downtime. Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns. Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules to extend equipment lifespan and maintain consistent production quality. Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including problems with gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors, cylinders, and chain-driven conveyors. Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including cylinders and related components. Perform low-voltage (24V) electrical troubleshooting and repairs in accordance with safety procedures. Support the installation and setup of new machinery and equipment, ensuring proper operation and adherence to safety standards. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance in compliance with auditing standards. Navigate, maintain, and improve CMMS processes to document work orders, track maintenance history, and support continuous improvement. Perform welding tasks as needed to support equipment repair and maintenance. Follow all established safety precautions and procedures while working on mechanical and electrical systems. Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to minimize downtime and support efficient manufacturing operations. Essential Skills Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, including hydraulics and pneumatics. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing gearboxes, bearings, and chain-driven conveyors. Experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps and motors. Ability to read and work from mechanical and electrical schematics. Hands-on experience with low-voltage (24V) electrical systems. Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems, including cylinders and related components. Experience performing preventive maintenance on production equipment. Ability to use and navigate a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Understanding of and adherence to electrical and mechanical safety precautions. Basic welding skills to support equipment repair and maintenance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with chain-driven conveyor systems in an industrial setting. Familiarity with automotive manufacturing equipment and processes. Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation for auditing purposes. Comfort working on night shifts and a rotating schedule. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Work Environment This role operates in an automotive manufacturing environment with exposure to production machinery, conveyor systems, and industrial equipment. The position follows a night shift schedule from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on a rotating pattern of 3 days on, 4 days off, then 4 days on, 4 days off. The environment emphasizes safety, including an annual fit test requirement and the need to be clean shaven for proper use of safety equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Greenfield, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $60320.00/yr.
