Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician - Conversion supports manufacturing operations by performing troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of production and plant equipment. This role also assists with equipment changeovers and setups, participates in equipment modifications and installations, and helps maintain an organized inventory of maintenance-related supplies. The position is ideal for a technician with strong industrial maintenance experience or mechanical and fabrication aptitude who enjoys hands-on work in a collaborative, safety-focused environment. Responsibilities Perform required service, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on all machines and plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Support equipment changeovers and setups for machine operators to minimize downtime and keep manufacturing operations running smoothly. Participate in equipment modifications, new equipment installations, and related projects to improve equipment performance and reliability. Inspect equipment and facility areas regularly to identify issues, report findings to management, and assist in implementing corrective actions. Work closely with other team members and leadership to resolve departmental or company-wide issues and to implement new programs, procedures, and policies. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area, ensuring the workspace is cleaned and organized at the end of each shift. Communicate progress, issues, and concerns clearly to management and team members to keep everyone informed and aligned. Follow all OSHA and company safety practices, promptly recognize hazards, and perform necessary corrections to maintain a safe working environment. Assist with managing and organizing maintenance-related supplies and parts to support timely repairs and preventive maintenance activities. Essential Skills Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment with exposure to mechanical blowers and rotating equipment. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in industrial equipment. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems, controls, PLCs, and drives, including the use of test equipment to diagnose and resolve issues. Ability to read and comprehend mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, work orders, and Standard Operating Procedures. Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions in a timely manner. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining flexible with changing work priorities. Experience with electrical troubleshooting, 3-phase power, and related industrial electrical systems. Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance practices for production machinery and plant equipment. Mechanical aptitude with exposure to pumps and related mechanical systems. Basic familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and the ability to interpret related documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment ranging from 3 to 5 years, depending on role level and complexity. Fabrication skills and strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to assist with custom components or modifications. Experience with CNC machining operations and related equipment setup or maintenance. Preferred experience in fabrication and welding, including resistance welding and GMAW (MIG) welding. Ability to interpret and work from schematics, blueprints, and other technical documentation. Experience working with pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems in an industrial setting. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with machine operators, peers, and leadership. Organizational skills to support inventory control of maintenance-related supplies and parts. Why Work Here? The work setting supports close collaboration with machine operators and other maintenance personnel while maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe workspace.
