Job Description

Dairy Manufacturing Maintenance Tech 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars Richmond Beverage Solutions, a DFA company, is seeking Maintenance Mechanics to join our team! Demonstrate full proficiency in maintenance and mechanical activities to ensure all equipment operates effectively and efficiently. Perform general maintenance, preventive maintenance, overhauls, modifications, fabrication, welding, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Work with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused on complex and/or new assignments. Act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform maintenance and repairs (planned, unplanned, and emergency) on production, processing, packaging, and utility-related equipment and systems, following all safety procedures Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections to assess equipment reliability and performance Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service Support the installation of new equipment Assist operators with training and troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime Complete work orders in a timely manner while maintaining high quality standards Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to perform job duties Maintain effective communication with other departments, management, and employees, and promptly notify them of any problems or concerns that may impact production efficiency Ensure all repairs are properly documented; complete all paperwork clearly, legibly, and accurately in accordance with standard operating procedures Stay current on new products, equipment, technologies, and techniques Utilize a continuous improvement mindset to assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes Anticipate parts requirements, follow proper purchasing procedures, and acquire parts ahead of scheduled tasks Maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to health and safety Follow all DFA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and perform work in accordance with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements The requirements listed are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed but do not constitute a complete list of responsibilities, duties, or skills required. Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required Graduation from a trade or technical school preferred, with focus areas including electrical systems, programmable controls (PLC/HMI), mechanical maintenance, welding/fabrication, refrigeration, plumbing, or related disciplines Two to four (2-4) years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, and computer‑controlled systems, including PLC and HVAC; manufacturing environment experience preferred Experience working on a variety of equipment, including lubricating systems, cleaning systems, material handling equipment, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging equipment Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred Certification and/or licensure may be required during the course of employment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to perform electrical work, including changing pump motors and diagnosing motor control issues Strong working knowledge of pneumatics, including solenoid valves and air cylinders Ability to safely and effectively use standard maintenance tools Ability to perform minor projects from planning through installation, including non‑sanitary piping, drain lines, and vacuum lines Ability to perform routine repairs safely and efficiently, including rebuilding product and water pumps, boiler maintenance, HVAC systems, VFDs, sanitary valves, and repairing piping leaks Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment, identify abnormal operating conditions, and maintain accurate records Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication repairs using TIG and stick welding techniques Ability to interpret process control computer variables and schematics and diagnose system issues Ability to assist other maintenance mechanics with more complex repairs in a safe and productive manner Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and foster cooperation across teams Basic computer skills
