Job Description

Come work with us! The City of Edgerton is seeking an Utility Maintenance Technician 1 . This person should be a motivated, self-starter for our utility department. The Utility Maintenance Technician I works under the direct supervision of the Utility Superintendent. This entry level skilled position will be assigned various basic duties and tasks necessary for the operation of public water and wastewater utilities and associated utility facilities for the City of Edgerton. The successful candidate is responsible for performing assigned duties for all phases of operation, maintenance, repair and upkeep of utility infrastructure, utility buildings, equipment, property. This position performs work for both water and wastewater utility departments, including daily, monthly, and annual water monitoring and testing as well as regular inspections and cleaning of infrastructure. The hiring wage range from $47,164 up to $53,163 per year based on experience and qualifications. The City of Edgerton offers a competitive benefits package to include medical, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Kansas Public Employee Retirement System (KPERS); supplemental retirement, including a 457(b); paid leave benefits, in addition to other voluntary benefit programs. The anticipated wage depends on level of experience. Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma, or equivalent, and must successfully pass pre-employment screenings, such as background check, physical and drug check. Experience is not required for the Utility Maintenance Technician I level, and the City will provide appropriate training for the successful candidate(s). Candidates should possess the ability to obtain a Class I certification within one year. Applications may also be submitted at City Hall during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm).
