Job Description

General Description:
The High School Facilities Maintenance Instructor job is both a hands-on and classroom-based teaching position that serves high school students who desire to learn more about and obtain the basic skills necessary to work in the skilled trades fields. The High School Facilities Maintenance Instructor must be able to successfully connect with these participants and be able to teach them both the book knowledge and the hands-on skills for an entry-level job in the skilled trades. The requirements involve an individual with 3+ years of general facilities maintenance experience.
Daily Work Expectations:
The High School Facilities Maintenance Instructor position is a part-time position, working with approximately 20 participants at a time for 5 hours a day, 4 days a week, over a regular school year (September to May). The schedule is Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm.
Job Requirements:
Teaching students the basic principles of -Electrical-Plumbing-HVAC-Carpentry Ensuring classroom safety and instruction of safety codes, rules, and regulations Teaching students the use of basic trade hand and power tools Teaching blue-print reading and construction math Ability to plan: Classroom/materials budgets and needs Curriculum and lesson plans based on course offerings Skilled Trade projects based on student competencies Skilled Trade related projects and events

Communicate effectively and respectfully with all colleagues and students. Exhibit effective time management skills. Maintain records necessary for the performance of his/her duties.
