Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description The Maintenance Mechanic will perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on industrial production equipment with a strong focus on stainless steel welding and fabrication. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of gear boxes, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, and large industrial furnaces while completing both corrective and preventive maintenance tasks. Responsibilities Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair on gear boxes, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, and related industrial equipment. Conduct maintenance and repair work on large industrial furnaces to support reliable and safe operation. Carry out extensive welding on stainless steel using MIG and stick (ARC) welding processes. Fabricate and repair parts and components using welding, cutting, and hand tools as needed to support equipment uptime. Read and interpret blueprints or fabrication drawings to complete maintenance and fabrication tasks accurately. Perform preventive maintenance tasks on production and facility equipment according to established schedules and procedures. Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively to perform daily maintenance activities. Inspect equipment to identify potential issues and recommend or perform corrective actions before failures occur. Document maintenance activities as required and communicate equipment status and issues to the appropriate team members. Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in a heavy industrial environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with large industrial furnaces is highly beneficial. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, including those involving gear boxes. Comfort working in a very dirty, heavy industrial environment. Ability to work a long day shift schedule and adapt from training hours to regular shift hours. Strong commitment to safety and proper use of personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear, hard hat, and safety glasses. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a heavy industrial plant with frequent exposure to production equipment, furnaces, and fabrication work. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a training shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, followed by a regular shift of Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The company provides uniforms and each employee receives a locker in the plant locker room for uniforms and personal belongings. The position requires adherence to strict safety standards, including wearing steel-toe footwear, a hard hat (provided), and safety glasses at all times in designated areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hopkinsville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.23 - $26.23/hr.
