Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Preventative Maintenance Technician to perform scheduled maintenance, cleaning, sanitization, and inspections on commercial ice and water dispensing equipment in hospitals, healthcare facilities, and medical campuses. This role is critical in supporting infection prevention efforts, water quality standards, equipment reliability, and patient safety. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in clinical environments and understand the importance of maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on healthcare ice and water dispensing systems, including Follett ice machines, water dispensers, filtration systems, and related equipment. Disassemble, deep clean, sanitize, and reassemble equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications, facility protocols, and infection prevention guidelines. Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues related to sanitation, water quality, ice production, drainage, filtration, and overall equipment performance. Replace filters, tubing, drain components, and other approved maintenance items as required. Inspect water filtration systems and verify proper operation to support water quality standards. Document all maintenance activities, cleaning procedures, equipment conditions, and corrective actions in accordance with healthcare facility requirements. Coordinate service activities with hospital engineering, facilities management, environmental services, and infection prevention teams. Follow all facility access requirements, patient privacy policies, safety procedures, and infection control protocols. Maintain compliance with company, manufacturer, and healthcare industry standards. Identify and report equipment deficiencies, sanitation concerns, or repair needs to management and facility representatives. Ensure all work areas are left clean, sanitized, and ready for patient care operations. Provide professional and courteous service while working around patients, visitors, and healthcare staff. Compliance & Infection Control Responsibilities Adhere to all hospital infection prevention and control policies. Follow approved sanitization and disinfection procedures during every maintenance visit. Utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by facility guidelines. Maintain awareness of healthcare environmental standards and best practices for equipment sanitation. Support facility efforts to reduce risks associated with biofilm buildup, waterborne contaminants, and unsanitary equipment conditions. Complete all required compliance, safety, and infection control training. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience in equipment maintenance, healthcare facilities maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, food service equipment, medical equipment support, or a related field preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools. Exceptional attention to detail, cleanliness, and documentation accuracy. Ability to work independently while maintaining strict compliance with facility procedures. Strong communication and customer service skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in mechanical rooms, kitchens, patient care areas, and other healthcare environments. Preferred Qualifications Experience servicing Follett ice and water systems or other commercial ice machines. Experience working within hospitals, healthcare facilities, long-term care facilities, or medical campuses. Knowledge of infection prevention principles and healthcare environmental services practices. Familiarity with water filtration systems, sanitation procedures, and preventative maintenance programs. OSHA, infection control, or healthcare compliance training is a plus. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Ability to travel between healthcare facilities throughout the service area. Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and sanitation products. Ability to wear required PPE and comply with all healthcare facility requirements.
Pay:
$17.00 - $25.00 per hour
