Job Description

We are currently seeking Maintenance Technicians for our Alexandria, LA Plant. Responsibilities:
Work from written/verbal instructions as well as work orders. Perform skilled maintenance and repair of a wide variety of mechanical and physical structures. May work from drawings, sketches, and blueprints. Use hand and power tools to complete work. Service machinery and related equipment within the plant; replace and repair components and parts as needed to keep equipment in safe and efficient operating condition. Perform preventive maintenance on a scheduled basis; inspect hoses, belts, fluids, and wiring. Clean and lubricate parts. Repair, adjust and maintain a variety of tools, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, and plumbing fixtures. Requisition new parts and equipment. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies. Install, set-up, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all equipment in the facility. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools. Install and adjust functional parts of devices. Understand and conform to written power lockout procedures. Follow all good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and be responsible for the cleanliness of immediate work area and contribute to the overall cleanliness of the facility. During periods of downtime, consult with supervisor for assignment of job duties to be performed. Properly report and document maintenance activities within the work-order accounting system. Examine mechanical equipment to identify potential problems. Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and supervisors as necessary to resolve problems. Work with outside contractors on special projects, machining work or repairs. Research parts and equipment as needed. Participate in Process improvement efforts, identify inefficiencies and design flaws. Recommend improvements. Provide training to employees with lesser knowledge and be willing to be trained by others with greater knowledge. Act as an example for all safety rules and regulations, performing all duties in a safe/efficient manner and wearing all required personal protective equipment. Work within the guidelines of the quality program. Report problems or accidents to management immediately. Give proper consideration to safety on each job and abides by all company safety rules, policies, and procedures. Perform related work as required.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong troubleshooting abilities including proficiency in rapid problem diagnoses in PLCs, AC/DC drives and motors, servo drives, electronic instrumentation, discrete logic controls as well as hydraulic and pneumatic controls. Must be able to perform proficiently the following: Change bearings, seals, gears, sprockets, chains, pulleys and bolts. Run conduit, pull wire as required for electrical services. Layout, cut, thread, and run all types of pipes. Drill and tap with accuracy. Work with acetylene torch and perform most types of gas and arc welding. Operate man-lifts, forklifts and heavy equipment.
Education:
High School or GED Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience.
