Job Description
Maintenance Technician II - 2nd Shift (~2:00 p.m. start)
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems during 3rd shift to maximize uptime and reliability.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; implement timely repairs and root-cause solutions.
Execute and document work orders, maintenance logs, and parts usage in the CMMS; communicate status and handoffs to other shifts and supervisors.
Perform basic PLC troubleshooting and collaborate with controls technicians or engineers on complex electrical/control issues.
Fabricate, modify, and weld metal components and assemblies as needed to support production and repairs.
Maintain and service boilers, water treatment systems, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and 3-phase electrical equipment.
Support preventive maintenance programs by completing scheduled PMs, inspections, lubrication, alignments, and adjustments.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment; follow lockout/tagout, confined space, and other safety procedures and report hazards or incidents.
Assist with spare parts inventory control, ordering recommendations, and emergency procurement to minimize downtime.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, providing feedback on reliability improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
QualificationsHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent; technical certificate or vocational training in industrial maintenance, millwright, or related field preferred.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a Maintenance Technician or in industrial maintenance environments; 3rd shift experience a plus.
Demonstrated skills in Industrial Maintenance and Maintenance Technician duties with a strong mechanical aptitude.
Working knowledge of electrical systems (including 3-phase), hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, bearings, belts, and gears.
Experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and using common maintenance hand and power tools.
Basic PLC knowledge and ability to perform simple PLC diagnostics; willingness to work with controls specialists on advanced issues.
Welding and fabrication experience or certification is highly desirable.
Experience with boilers and water treatment systems is a plus.
Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks under minimal supervision on night shift.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with production, maintenance team members, and supervisors.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces and varying environmental conditions.
Relevant certifications a plus: OSHA 10/30, boiler operator license, welding certification (SMAW/GMAW), electrical license, or PLC training.
