Job Description

About This Position:
The overall function of this position is to provide support and assistance for the District 05 Sign Shop Maintenance Unit 750 under guidance and direct supervision form a Highway Foreman 2 and Engineering Technician 7 or a District Sign Specialist Leader. This position performs duties related to the complete installation and maintenance of highway signs throughout the District on all state and federal routes, including urban and rural areas. The incumbent is required to train in and/or obtain the following knowledge, skills, abilities, licensing and operate the following equipment: Knowledge of signs, traffic control devices and traffic control plans The incumbent is required to possess and maintain a Class D Chauffer's License Cell phone, computer, mobile data collector, power tools, hand tools No experience or training is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Job Duties:
Performs all sign installation, replacement and maintenance on all state maintained highways in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Provides guidance, training and oversees work of District sign Specialist 1 and/or other maintenance personnel in conjunction with the placement of such signs. Performs installation and maintenance of detours, lane closures, road closure, barricades and warning devices in conjunction with maintenance and construction operations. Determines the layout of traffic control devices by interpreting the Department Maintenance Traffic Control Handbook, MUTCD and other Department policies and Procedures. Maintains sign inventory with minimal error. Locates and corrects error as they are found. Performs miscellaneous duties as necessary to ensure the smooth efficient operations of sign shop including maintenance of sign trucks, sign installation and maintenance equipment, small tools, etc. Obtain training which is listed in PPM #59 for this position and additional training as required by the Section Head. May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/ disaster support activities.

Compensation:
