Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of multiple ready mix concrete batch plants within the region. Maximize plant availability through the use of efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs. Increasing level of responsibility per job grade as indicated below.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Diagnose problems and perform mechanical repair and maintenance to stationary production machinery including but not limited to: batch plants, motors, conveyors, elevators and drives.
  • Inspect and report condition of machinery for items needing repair or service.
  • Use mobile equipment to carry and lift heavy parts into place.
  • Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment.
  • Lubricate plant machinery using hand or air-powered equipment.
  • Rebuild or fabricate parts.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals.
  • Repair electrical equipment.
  • Order parts from approved vendors and drive pick-up or repair truck to pick up parts.
  • Shovel aggregate material from area to be repaired or for general housekeeping purposes.
  • Operate fixed and mobile equipment as necessary.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Comply with all environmental, health, safety & training policies, procedures and requirements.
JOB GRADE SPECIFIC DUTIES/SKILLS I.
Entry level mechanic, qualified to perform general utility work and light maintenance under supervision of experienced mechanic. II. Qualified to operate welding machinery, build and fabricate parts and perform basic electrical work. III.
Leadman:
in addition to performing maintenance and fabrication, directs the work of other fixed equipment mechanics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience:
Three (3) years' experience in the construction/mining/concrete industry
License:
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must have good mechanical and welding skills, certified welders preferred. Must have sufficient level of education to understand oral and written instructions of somewhat technical nature relating to products and vehicles. Must have the ability to read technical manuals and understand schematic diagrams. Ability to operate crane, forklift, loaders, and various other types of mobile equipment preferred. Must have ability to work independently and as part of a team.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires knowledge and awareness of construction and industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate. Position requires ability to work at multiple sites and varying start times dependent on business needs. Some overtime and weekend work will be required.
Pay:
$26.00 - $30.00 per hour
