Job Description

Job Title:
Maintenance Mechanic A Job Description This role performs a wide range of complex tasks related to the construction, installation, maintenance, adjustment, and repair of production equipment and plant facilities. Working under limited supervision, you apply a broad knowledge of multiple maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical, to keep machinery and facilities operating safely and efficiently on a day-to-day basis. Responsibilities Perform work across multiple maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical, to support production equipment and plant facilities. Follow maintenance schedules, detailed drawings, diagrams, specifications, blueprints, and both written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately. Locate and diagnose complex equipment failures and implement timely corrective actions to minimize downtime. Conduct routine, periodic, and special inspections of facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify required repairs and maintenance that prevent breakdowns. Carry out all functions typically assigned to a Maintenance Specialist B, demonstrating advanced technical capability and versatility. Perform machinery maintenance and facilities maintenance tasks to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and infrastructure. Use blueprint reading and interpretation skills to plan, execute, and verify maintenance and repair work. Identify issues proactively in a limited-supervision environment and complete tasks independently from start to finish. Perform other related duties as directed to support overall maintenance operations. Essential Skills Proven industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment. Hands-on experience with electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair of production equipment and facility infrastructure. Mechanical maintenance experience, including inspection, adjustment, and repair of machinery and mechanical systems. Carpentry experience for construction, repair, and modification of plant structures or equipment supports. Plumbing experience for installation, maintenance, and repair of facility piping and related systems. Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings, diagrams, specifications, and blueprints. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for identifying complex equipment failures. Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and facilities. Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound decisions in a limited-supervision environment. Capability to follow maintenance schedules and written and verbal instructions accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience performing both machinery maintenance and facilities maintenance in an industrial setting. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple maintenance trades within a single role. Comfort working from detailed technical documentation, including prints and specifications. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying maintenance needs before failures occur. Flexibility to perform other related duties as directed to support maintenance and operations. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates on a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work routine. You work in a plant environment where production equipment and facilities require ongoing maintenance and repair. The role functions under limited supervision, so you are expected to identify issues independently, prioritize tasks, and complete work with minimal oversight. You regularly use tools and equipment related to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry trades, and you rely on technical documentation such as blueprints, diagrams, and maintenance schedules to guide your work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Billerica, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
