Over that time, we've established a strong reputation for reliability and consistency based on our proven theory of change, while remaining flexible to meet the changing needs of our communities. What sets us apart is the lengths we go to in getting to know our family members and their goals as they work to achieve self-sufficiency. We are looking for people to partner with us to achieve our goal of disrupting the cycle of homelessness for greater Boston families and are seeking a Facilities Technician to join our team.
What You Will Do:
Paint, repair holes in walls, install drywall, door repairs: casings, moldings, locks, and latches. Repair broken window panes to include glazing in new pane, fix window balances, repair torn screens, install window shades, air conditioners, attach gate latches, installing light bulbs, unclogging drains, replacing toilets, sinks and or faucets, unclog toilets, repair leaking faucets, caulking, minor tile replacement and re-grouting. Remove debris, yard work, grass cutting, general grounds keeping, snow removal using both hand equipment and snow blower. Conduct regular property inspections and preventative maintenance. Performing any other task that is necessary to maintain the property in a safe, workable and "cared for" condition. Move furnishings from one room/unit to another to prepare for an incoming family. Pick up and deliver donations. Heavy household cleaning such as floor and wall washing, window washing, and cleaning out cellars. Complete Work Orders when assigned, and report daily to the Administrative Coordinator that WOs have been completed or need further follow up. Responsible for on-call and emergencies after hours, holidays and weekends as necessary on a rotating schedule What You Will Need to

Education
  • High School Diploma Experience
  • Two or more years' experience in property maintenance, janitorial and/or building trades. Skills
  • Ability to ambulate unassisted and lift up to 80 lbs, drive a Transit-250 Cargo Van XL. Work involves, from time to time, hands-on maintenance and repair including climbing ladders, working with hazardous materials and compounds, operating power tools and equipment, exposure to high voltage electrical devices, etc. Certification/License
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license and own vehicle required. Language
  • Bilingual
  • Spanish/Haitian Creole. Additional Information
  • ability to work rotating on-call schedule, including weekend coverage, which may require additional hours as needed to assist in the effective management of the program.
