  • This Position is for 2nd Shift (2:30pm-10:30pm). Training will be on 1st shift (7am-3pm) until the new hire is comfortable to work on their own.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing general maintenance under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance & Facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Troubleshoot and repair machine breakdowns, mechanical and electrical.
  • Effect repairs to machinery including but not limited to replacing machine parts such as belts and bearings, replacing wear parts on braiders, replacing fuses.
  • Adheres to lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and the facility.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning air filters on machines, lubricating machines, checking chains on hoists and replacing light bulbs.
  • Fabricate machine parts on the lathe or milling machine.
  • Perform welding tasks.
  • Assists with installation of new equipment.
  • Assists with facilities maintenance as needed.
  • Ensure that factory equipment is operating in a safe condition, including but not limited to checking the proper operation of overhead hoists, ensuring that proper machine guards are in place and ensuring that safety interlocks are operational.
  • Perform all other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS:
  • Machining practices and techniques.
  • Welding.
  • Basic electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to approach troubleshooting logically.
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision.
EXPERIENCE
  • 1-2 years working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Wire and cable experience a plus.
EDUCATION
  • High School, Vocational School or 3+ years experience as a mechanic.
Physical Requirements Does general cleaning and painting of equipment, moves equipment parts to and from work areas. Moves machines for installation, relocation, or repair. Cleans work area. Works with hand tools on equipment. Removes guards and such when performing lubrication and repairs. Very frequent operation of motorized cart or fork truck. Frequent use of hand tools - powered and manual. Frequent use of ladders and powered lifts for above floor level work. Use and exposure to oils, chemicals and other materials requiring PPE and other protective measures. Ability to read and understand MSDS connected with such oils and chemicals. Frequent working at waist level, at shoulder level and above shoulder level. Frequent bending, stooping and reaching. Frequent lifting 10 - 40 lbs, with use of assistive equipment for heavier than 50 lbs. Normal walking in the plant - some stairs. Working Environment General plant conditions. Subject to contact with grease, oils, and various chemicals in performing routine maintenance work. Works anywhere in plant and outside of plant. Exposed to all types of conditions. Safety glasses, hearing protection and other protective clothing are sometimes required. May come in contact with high temperature metal, compound, lubricants, and also strong solvents and acids.
