Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician sets up, adjusts, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains conveyors, distribution equipment, and forklifts in a high-volume distribution facility. Working under limited supervision, this role performs preventive maintenance, responds to equipment downtime, and ensures production and quality standards are consistently met. The technician documents all work in maintenance systems, supports facility projects, and communicates professionally with on-site partners and customers. Responsibilities Set up, adjust, repair, and maintain conveyors, distribution equipment, forklifts, and related systems to support continuous operations. Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on conveyors, automation equipment, robotics, and ancillary systems to minimize unplanned downtime. Troubleshoot out-of-service equipment, identify issues, and implement corrective actions in a timely and safe manner. Serve as an escalation point for lower-level technicians and escalate complex issues to leadership or technicians when necessary. Record all maintenance issues and activities in maintenance logs for each production line. Document all work performed in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ticketing systems, maintaining accurate and complete records. Maintain accurate operating logs for fire pumps, generators, HVAC equipment, and other facility systems that require routine testing. Perform root cause analysis of major downtime events, identify underlying issues, and implement long-term corrective actions. Assist other maintenance mechanics with tasks that require two people or when operational priorities demand additional support. Complete facility and building project work such as light bulb and ballast replacement, door repairs, furniture installation, ceiling tile replacement, basic carpentry tasks, plumbing repairs, and maintenance of operation logs. Assemble and test equipment to verify proper operation and production readiness. Analyze and record causes of production delays on daily production reports and initiate procedures to resolve equipment malfunctions. Examine defects and analyze spoilage causes, implement corrective actions where possible, and verify that corrective measures have resolved the problems. Communicate professionally with on-site partners and customers while working in a shared facility environment. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience working with conveyors and distribution equipment, including basic forklift maintenance. Hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, including repair and adjustment of production and material handling equipment. Ability to perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on conveyors, automation systems, robotics, and ancillary equipment. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Basic electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with 3-phase power and motors. Experience with basic PLC troubleshooting, preferably with Allen-Bradley or Siemens systems. Ability to read and work from schematics and technical documentation. Experience with maintenance repair activities in an industrial or distribution environment. Strong troubleshooting skills for conveyors, motors, and associated electrical and mechanical components. Ability to accurately document work in a CMMS and other ticketing or logging systems. Professional communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and on-site partners. Ability to work independently under limited supervision while managing multiple maintenance priorities. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Edgemere, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65520.00 - $72800.00/yr. health insurance, life and disability, 401(k) contributions, paid time off, etc Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Edgemere,MD.
