Community Support Services, Inc. (CSS) is a non-profit organization based in Gaithersburg, MD. CSS is committed to providing inclusive and innovative community-based services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in their pursuit of individually chosen life goals to live, work, learn, interact with others, and recreate in their community. CSS is seeking a motivated individual to join our experienced facilities team to perform general maintenance tasks for two CSS offices located in Gaithersburg, MD and 70 residential homes located in upper Montgomery County. The ideal candidate will possess broad experience across all areas of property maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall repair, appliance and HVAC troubleshooting, and general building repairs.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma. Experience in general maintenance and household repair skills. Ability to use power and hand tools. Driver's license with clean driving record. Ability to use phone apps for maintenance ticket tracking. DUTIES INCLUDE
Review daily task list sent by supervisor, prioritize, and update status. Perform maintenance tasks at CSS houses and offices including: General Carpentry and Drywall:
basic framing, drywall repairs, patching and painting, door and cabinet maintenance and repair, flooring repairs Plumbing:
unclogging drains, repairing and replacing faucets and shower heads, leak detection and repairs HVAC:
assist with preventative maintenance, filter changes and vent and fan cleanings, troubleshooting issues as they arise Electrical:
replacing outlets, switches, and light fixtures, installing low voltage equipment including security cameras, troubleshooting electrical issues Exterior Maintenance:
power washing, snow removal, drainage improvements, minor landscaping, and pest control, light masonry Assist with the set up of new residences including installing smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, door alarms, cameras, and accommodations for residents as needed. Respond to emergency maintenance calls as assigned. Assist Fleet Manager with minor vehicle repairs such as tire repair, changing tires and batteries, etc. REQUIRED TRAINING/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record Must take CSS defensive driver training Must operate own vehicle and CSS vehicles as required Ability to use phone app for maintenance ticket tracking PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to bend, lift and move heavy equipment. CSS is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization which provides services and support to children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities residing within Montgomery County, Maryland. CSS was founded in 1994 and began its mission by working collaboratively with individuals, families, and other lead agencies to design and implement new models of service. CSS provides residential services in 70 homes in upper Montgomery County, where two individuals reside in each home with one or two support staff providing care and supervision .
