This position will support the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, DC, ensuring electrical systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of commercial electrical systems, the ability to diagnose and repair electrical issues, and experience performing routine maintenance in a federal, commercial, or facility maintenance environment. Key Responsibilities Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on building electrical systems, equipment, and components. Inspect, test, and diagnose electrical systems to identify malfunctions, failures, or safety concerns. Maintain, repair, and replace electrical wiring, circuits, breakers, panels, switches, outlets, lighting systems, motors, controls, and related equipment. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with established schedules, work orders, and safety procedures. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and electrical drawings. Ensure all work is completed in compliance with the National Electrical Code, OSHA standards, federal facility requirements, and TeamGov safety policies. Respond to service calls and maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner. Use testing equipment such as multimeters, voltage testers, clamp meters, and circuit tracers to troubleshoot electrical issues. Support maintenance of emergency power systems, lighting controls, generators, electrical distribution systems, and related facility equipment as needed. Document completed work, inspections, repairs, parts used, and maintenance findings accurately. Coordinate with supervisors, facility managers, contractors, and other maintenance personnel to complete assigned tasks. Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow lockout/tagout procedures when required. Required Qualifications Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of commercial or industrial electrical systems. Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical panels, circuits, lighting systems, wiring, controls, and related components. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and electrical safety practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team. Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail. Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in mechanical/electrical areas as required. Must be reliable, punctual, and able to support a professional federal work environment. Preferred Qualifications Journeyman Electrician license or electrical trade certification preferred. Experience working in a federal facility, government building, commercial property, or secure facility environment. Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems. Experience with generators, transfer switches, emergency lighting, UPS systems, motor controls, and electrical distribution systems. Work Environment This position will be performed primarily on-site at an IRS facility in Washington, DC. The employee may work in office buildings, electrical rooms, mechanical spaces, maintenance areas, and other facility environments. The role may require standing, walking, climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and responding to maintenance issues during normal business hours or as assigned. Compensation Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, contract requirements, and TeamGov's approved pay structure.
