Job Description

The Brunswick Housing Authority is seeking to fill the role of Housing Inspector/Maintenance Tech. This is a responsible, hybrid position that will report to both the Housing Programs Manager and the Supervisor of Maintenance. This position will be responsible for the inspection of dwellings that fall under the HCV (Section 8) program as well as other BHA owned or managed properties for compliance with codes relative to building, plumbing, electrical and occupancy sanitation, zoning and other features as required by HUD and performing duties as a maintenance technician which includes attention to the care of plumbing, mechanical, electrical matters as well as ordinary repairs involving carpentry skills and outdoor yard and lawn care. The successful applicant must possess a valid Maine driver's license, work well in a team environment, have good communications skills, be able to handle stressful situations and carry out the responsibilities of the job in a professional manner. This position will require the ability to lift, carry, and position objects up to 50lbs utilizing proper body mechanics and techniques. We offer a competitive hourly rate and an excellent fringe benefit package and a 4 day work week.
Minimum requirements:
knowledge of property inspection and building maintenance equivalent to completion of an associate's degree and a minimum of three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a Housing Quality Standards Certificate and Universal Physical Conditions Standards certificate or obtain these within six months of employment. Employment at BHA is contingent upon successful completion of our standard background check, which may include verification of your prior employment, education, and a criminal record check to which a separate authorization form will be required.
