Status 16HRS/WK Job Summary:
The Maintenance I/ Grounds Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repair, and grounds keeping duties to ensure a safe, functional, and aesthetically maintained healthcare environment. This position supports the hospital's mission by maintaining building systems, exterior grounds, and infrastructure in compliance with safety, regulatory, and infection control standards.Essential Job Duties:
Ground Maintenance Job Duties:
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on hospital equipment, systems, and infrastructure. Assist skilled trades (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry) as needed. Conduct preventative maintenance tasks as assigned. Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely and efficient manner. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, and cars as required.Grounds Keeping Job Duties:
Maintain hospital grounds including mowing, trimming, edging, and landscaping. Perform seasonal duties such as leaf removal, snow removal, sanding, and salting walkways and parking areas. Maintain exterior cleanliness including parking lots, sidewalks, and entrances. Assist in maintaining drainage systems and outdoor infrastructure.Safety and Compliance:
Follow Cary Medical Center safety policies, procedures, and infection control practices. Identify and report safety hazardous or maintenance concerns properly and timely. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately. Support Environment of Care standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, CMS, and Joint Commission).Emergency Response:
Participate in emergency response activities including snow/ ice events, utility outages, and disaster response. Be available for on-call rotation as required.Other duties:
Comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements:
Education or License:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. OSHA or safety- related training preferred. Obtain the Helpers Licenses within 12 months of hire: Plumbing, Electrical, Propane, and Fuel.Experience:
One year of maintenance, facilities, or grounds keeping experience preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Basic knowledge of building maintenance systems and tools. Ability to operate grounds keeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, snow removal equipment). Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions. Strong problem- solving skills and attention to detail.Contact:
