Job Description

Job Summary Planet Fitness is looking for energetic, enthusiastic people that are passionate about health & fitness to join our amazing team. Planet Fitness is one of the largest and fastest growing fitness centers in North America. Our environment is engaging, positive, and fun. We are looking for a Maintenance Technician that supports our Judgement Free Zone mission and ensures we deliver an exceptional gym experience for our members and their guests. This Position would travel between various locations throughout SE Michigan.

Work Vehicle, Gas Card, Laptop, Cell Phone, and Tools. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complete maintenance tasks outlined by the Facilities Manager.
  • Reviews, updates and resolves open maintenance requests through the maintenance reporting system.
  • Troubleshoot and service all fitness equipment.
  • Log and report any inventory used through the maintenance reporting system.
  • Review equipment diagrams and record part numbers for repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and service tanning beds.
  • Troubleshoot and service Hydromassage beds.
  • Rubber floor repairs/vinyl base replacement.
  • Drinking fountain maintenance.
  • Basic plumbing repairs (shower, sink, and toilet rebuilds)
  • Minor electrical repairs (receptacle replacement, e-light replacement, small ballasts)
  • Building light replacements.
  • TV and Service Provider troubleshooting.
  • Club overhead speaker system troubleshooting.
  • Other small tasks and projects at request.
  • Report maintenance issues noticed during visits for future repairs.
  • Daily communication with the Facilities Manager. . Preventative Maintenance Tasks (Helps Support the Preventative Maintenance Technician)
  • Cleaning out treadmills.
  • Belt alignment and audio checks
  • Maintaining tanning beds (vacuum inside filters and wipe inside acrylics.)
  • Record tanning hours.
  • Tanning bulb changes.
  • Annual HydroMassage bed service.
  • Minor drywall repairs.
  • Touch up paint walls.
  • Remove and recaulk countertops/urinal edges/toilet bases and showers. Qualifications
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and other technical skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage time to ensure all work is done accurately and on time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Google Drive platform.
  • Must be team oriented, self-motivated, and well organized.
Qualifications Proven experience in facilities maintenance or related fields within manufacturing or industrial environments. Strong mechanical knowledge with skills in welding, plumbing, HVAC systems, and residential painting. Electrical experience including troubleshooting using schematics and testing tools such as ohmmeters; familiarity with PLCs is highly desirable. Ability to read technical diagrams, schematics, and electrical wiring diagrams confidently. Experience operating CMMS software for work order management and documentation. Supervising or leadership experience in a maintenance setting is preferred. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English across diverse teams. Knowledge of safety standards related to facilities maintenance and manufacturing environments. Ability to use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively for troubleshooting electrical issues.
