Immediately Job Description Maintenance Technician Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD) Position Summary The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in maintaining safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities across the district. This position is responsible for a variety of maintenance, repair, and preventative tasks that support high-quality learning environments for students and staff. Key Responsibilities Perform general building maintenance including repairs to doors, locks, flooring, ceilings, and interior spaces. Complete light electrical and plumbing work such as replacing outlets, switches, light fixtures, faucets, and toilets, and addressing minor drain issues. Support HVAC systems through monitoring, filter changes, and basic troubleshooting; report larger issues to contractors. Assist with grounds maintenance including snow removal, mowing, trash cleanup, and minor outdoor repairs. Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to identify and address issues early. Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies, including occasional after-hours situations. Other duties as assigned. Safety & Compliance Follow OSHA and district safety standards at all times. Maintain safe, hazard-free environments for students and staff. Properly handle tools, equipment, and chemicals. Support safety drills, inspections, and emergency procedures. Daily Expectations Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and custodial staff. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and complete work orders. Work independently and collaboratively as needed. Demonstrate professionalism, strong problem-solving skills, and good time management. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies. Adapt to changing priorities—no two days are the same. Physical & Schedule Requirements Routinely lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance. Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and work on rooftops. Work in a variety of environments, including noisy, dusty, and outdoor conditions. Availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities. Compensation & Employment DetailsCompensation:
$24.52-$28.85 per hour commensurate with experience.Schedule:
Full-time, 261 days per year.Benefits:
