Job Description

Overseeing and maintaining all repairs on a complex warehouse/office facility. This role plays a critical part in sustaining operational efficiency and safety as well as food safety standards. Proactive upkeep and repair of equipment and facility will be the main function of this position. Making sure everything is done accurately, while flow of work is maintained and reported. Due to our busy Summer/Fall season, PTO is not taken July 1st through October 15th. Please only serious candidates apply.
LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
: Building Maintenance, working independently with only general direction, working alongside Dock Supervisor and Packing Supervisor to help maintain production.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
: Work is performed in a fast-paced warehouse setting with frequent interruptions from staff, and company representatives. Hours in the summer time can exceed the standard 8 hours per day. Hours in the winter months and early spring are generally 8 hour days or less.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs basic maintenance tasks and cleans, inspects and lubricates various equipment and assets. Responsible for patrolling all areas of the facility looking for maintenance issues to address. Responsible for setting up, maintenance and taking down of vacuum tubes. Must have maintenance experience, including minor electrical repairs, HVAC and filter changes. Repairing/installing plumbing fixtures. Monitor and respond to work orders. Maintain stock of repair parts. Order maintenance/janitorial supplies. Able to respond to after-hour and weekend emergency calls. Must be able to read blueprints. Basic welding/pipe fitting experience. Basic carpentry experience required (hammer, screwdriver, tape measure, chisel, handsaw, power drill, miter saw, level etc.) Help with maintenance of grounds including snow removal in parking lot and walkways. Works closely with President and Controller on other special planning and departmental projects. Review and approve all operational invoices and ensure they are submitted for payment. Help in dock and packing areas whenever needed. Maintain inventory of packing supply items that are ordered as well as box and bag inventory. Clean compressor filters, check cooler temps and fill out appropriate logs. Making sure all sanitizers are full. In charge of all maintenance throughout the entire building including but not limited to setting up maintenance with outside vendors.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
May perform duties of work of higher classified positions, as assigned. May perform duties of similar complexity in any Department as assigned. Maintains and checks all the thermometers, sanitizer test kits, sanitation services, calibration of all machinery needing to be calibrated. Have a clear understanding of all food safety policies and procedures and be able to carry those policies and procedure out. Back up for swabbing for microbial testing in the facility as well as monitoring HACCP CCP's.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES
Must have or be able to quickly acquire knowledge of departmental program structure (mission, goals and objectives), department policies and procedures. Must have at least 2 years experience of driving a Hilo and have a certified Hilo license or be able to get one though us by passing Hilo testing. Must have basic math skills. Must have knowledge of the FIFO inventory system. Must be able to follow and understand the significance of all OSHA and food safety rules and regulations. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have transportation that will allow you to get to facility quickly in case of emergency. Must be able to get along with a diverse array of people. Refrigeration experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL
Ability to be on your feet most of the day. Standing, walking and working in various environmental conditions. Capable of bending, twisting, kneeling and climbing. Able to push or pull heavy objects. Must be able to occasionally accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Occasionally being able to ascend or descend from ladders, stairs and ramps. Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs. There will be occasional exposure to low temperatures, high temperatures, outdoor elements, and noisy environments.
USE OF TOOLS
Hilo, computer, calculator, and floor scrubber. As well as all maintenance equipment.

Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective interaction with colleagues and customers and to convey information accurately and professionally. Excellent memory and organizational ability, in order to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
