Job Description
THE CITY OF PORT HURON IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
MAINTENANCETECHNICIAN - MCMORRAN SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT FACILITY GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Plan and coordinate the assignments of the custodial/housekeeping, set-up/tear-down and maintenance programs for the McMorran Sports & Entertainment Facility to ensure a safe, clean environment for facility guests, tenants and visitors. Monitor and coordinate all routine maintenance of the facility including mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems. Prepare recommendations for management regarding maintenance of the facility.SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed under the general supervision of the General and Assistant General Manager or other designated representative.TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK
An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (These examples do not include all the tasks which the employee may be expected to perform.) Coordinate events, as assigned. Review event service orders; coordinate staff and assignments for custodial/housekeeping and set-up/tear-down of each event. Assist guests, tenants or visitors with event set-up modifications or equipment requests. Monitor, operate and maintain the facility HVAC system on a daily basis to ensure it is operating properly. Monitor and perform routine maintenance of the facility including mechanical and electrical systems. Serve as facility electrician and plumber. Assist with the annual inspection of all equipment. Assist with the set up and updating of maintenance records on a daily or monthly basis. Prepare the Civic Center for use by customers and guests. Coordinate and perform various custodial and facility maintenance (routine and preventive) duties, such as: mopping, sweeping, cleaning, painting, landscaping, snow removal, maintenance and repair. Establish and maintain inventory of operational and custodial supplies. Operate various equipment, including but not limited to: City owned automobiles, forklift, Zamboni and hydraulic powered lift. Communicate with the General and Assistant General Manager regarding maintenance plans and needs. Assist with the training and evaluation of part-time staff. Other duties as assigned.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in operating HVAC systems in a multi-building facility. Working knowledge of facility preventative maintenance programs. Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling systems. Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and other facility systems. Ability to recognize and recommend improvements to the facility and systems. Knowledge of methods, tools, materials and equipment necessary for large facility and cleaning operations. Knowledge of the principles and methods for set-up/tear-down of large events. Knowledge of the proper housekeeping/cleaning techniques for a large, public facility. Knowledge of fire and safety regulations. Ability to work a varied schedule, including: all days of the week, weekends, evenings and swing shifts. Ability to work long hours in order to assist with scheduled events. Ability to establish priorities with minimal supervision. Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in order to plan, coordinate, schedule, and assign work. Ability to coordinate multiple events at a large, full-service arena. Ability to assist in the development and administration of sound operating policies. Knowledge of purchasing methods. Ability to prepare reports. Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory relationships with the public and with other employees. An employee in this class, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following training and experience: Graduation from an accredited high school is required. Must have a valid Michigan Driver License (Operator's).Working Hours:
Non-traditional work schedule; 40 hours per week according to the McMorran Sports & Entertainment Facility event schedule which will include working evenings and weekends.Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. Ability to bend, twist, stoop, etc.Salary Range:
