The 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) line. This role operates on an off-shift with limited supervision and requires a self-motivated individual who can independently identify, prioritize, and execute maintenance work. This is a hands-on role that supports both production equipment reliability and general facility maintenance, with a strong focus on uptime, safety, and proactive problem-solving.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting on IMP production line equipment Respond to equipment breakdowns and restore operations quickly and safely Diagnose root causes of failures and implement corrective actions Perform repairs, adjustments, and component replacements as needed Support continuous operation by minimizing downtime and recurring issues 2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on production equipment Identify opportunities to improve PM effectiveness and equipment reliability Document completed work and findings in CMMS or maintenance logs Proactively inspect equipment to identify wear, risks, or failure points 3. Independent Work Execution (Off-Shift Ownership) Work independently without direct supervision during 2nd shift operations Identify maintenance needs and create/complete work orders as needed Prioritize tasks based on production impact, safety, and equipment condition Maintain clear communication through shift notes and handoffs to leadership and 1st shift team Take initiative in maintaining equipment and facility standards 4. Production Support Partner with production team members to quickly resolve issues Communicate equipment status, risks, and repair timelines clearly Assist in line startups, changeovers, and operational adjustments as needed 5. Facility Maintenance Perform general facility maintenance including: Lighting, minor electrical work, and basic plumbing Building repairs and upkeep Support for HVAC and utility systems as needed Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and shop Coordinate minor repairs to ensure safe and efficient work environment 6. Parts & Inventory Support Utilize spare parts inventory to complete repairs efficiently Communicate parts usage and needs to Maintenance Supervisor Assist in maintaining organized parts storage and shop areas 7. Lift Equipment & Support Systems Support basic maintenance and inspections of forklifts and powered equipment Report issues and assist with coordination of repairs 8. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety procedures including LOTO, PPE, and safe work practices Identify and report unsafe conditions or behaviors Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activitiesQUALIFICATIONS
3-7+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills Experience with continuous production lines preferred (IMP, roll forming, laminating, or similar) Ability to work independently and manage time effectively on off-shift Basic knowledge of PLCs and control systems preferred Experience with CMMS systems is a plus Strong problem-solving and decision-making skillsWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
2nd Shift position (off-shift with minimal supervision) Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, temperature variations, dust, and industrial conditionsPHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8-12 hour shifts) Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders or stairs Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights when required Regular use of hands for gripping, handling, and operating tools and equipment Ability to reach above shoulders and below waist level Ability to push, pull, and maneuver equipment and componentsLIFTING REQUIREMENTS
Regularly lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs Occasionally lift and move materials up to 100 lbs (team lift or mechanical assistance as needed)ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
