Full Job Description Purpose and Description:
Bauer Welding & Metal Fabricators is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the daily operations of our 60,000 sq ft production facility in Mounds View. This position is responsible for efficiently repairing and maintaining a wide variety of CNC and manual fabrication equipment to optimize uptime, productivity, and safety.
Shift:
2nd shift Monday through Thursday 3:00pm•1:30am (additional shift differential of $1.50) Primary Duties Perform mechanical and electrical/electronic troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of fabrication equipment including: CNC tube benders, mills, lasers, 6-axis robotic welders Manual mills and tube benders Punch presses, brake presses, drill presses End formers, saws, and cutoff machines Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce downtime Communicate repair timelines, updates, and completions clearly with team leads and supervisors Implement and maintain safety protocols: LOTO, chemical storage/disposal, fire extinguisher checks, and emergency lighting Maintain and troubleshoot systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC-based controls Respond promptly to maintenance requests and prioritize tasks based on production needs Coordinate with production and engineering teams to ensure efficient equipment operation Document all maintenance activity in logs and maintenance software Adhere to safety policies, including lockout/tagout, chemical handling, and PPE compliance Additional Duties Order repair parts and coordinate external service or specialty tools Maintain repair and inspection records, logs, and purchase orders Perform building and facility maintenance, including HVAC, electric boiler/heat pump systems, cooling towers, rooftop fans, air exchangers, runoff systems Oversee forklift and crane maintenance with outside vendors Coordinate hazardous waste disposal in compliance with environmental regulations Participate in other assigned duties aligned with core values: Taking Ownership, Striving for
Greatness, Showing Our Customers We Care Qualifications & Skills Required:
5+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment maintenance Completed electrical/electronics technical training (certificate or equivalent) Experience troubleshooting and repairing PLCs and automation systems Ability to read mechanical and electrical prints, schematics, and control diagrams Knowledge of CNC equipment (lasers, brakes, benders, mills) Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems Experience with welding equipment maintenance Basic fabrication skills, including the ability to modify or fabricate parts when needed Effective communication skills for working with all levels of staff and vendors Flexibility and prioritization skills in a multi-machine environment Basic to intermediate computer skills
Preferred:
MN Boiler License, Previous experience in a precision fabrication shop, Familiarity with
ISO 9001
standards Physical Requirements Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly Work in standing, kneeling, and overhead positions Exposure to noise, oils, solvents, and moving machinery Indoor shop environment with seasonal temperature controls
