The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of heavy machinery, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, heavy duty trucks and other construction or industrial equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on heavy equipment. Inspect and test equipment for safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. Conduct system overhauls, rebuilds, and part replacements as needed. Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Use diagnostic tools and software to identify equipment malfunctions. Maintain accurate service records and complete repair documentation. Adhere to all safety regulations and workplace procedures. Assist in training operators on proper equipment use and basic maintenance. Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure equipment is operational.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification preferred). 2+ years of experience as a heavy equipment technician, diesel mechanic, or related field. Proficiency in troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Ability to operate and test heavy machinery safely. Strong understanding of diagnostic tools and repair techniques. Welding and fabrication skills are a plus. Ability to lift heavy parts and tools Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments. Must be a member of Operators Local 101 or Teamsters 541
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Comfortable working in outdoor and industrial environments, which may include exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with hours that may vary depending on project needs. Some overtime, weekends, and on-call work may be required.
