August 10, 2026 Responsibilities About the role This full-time Maintenance Mechanic role supports safe, reliable drinking water for the Kansas City community. You'll earn $22.61-$34.48 per hour while working a predictable four-day schedule and building hands-on skills with essential mechanical and treatment systems. What you'll do Inspect, maintain, and repair water treatment equipment including pumps, motors, valves, generators, compressors, and chemical feed systems to keep plant operations running safely and efficiently. Troubleshoot mechanical issues in plant systems and equipment to minimize downtime and protect water quality. Perform preventive maintenance on buildings and equipment by regularly inspecting systems and completing timely repairs before failures occur. Repair and replace boiler and steam or condensate components to support consistent plant operations. Complete maintenance plumbing work as needed to ensure reliable water flow and system performance. Each responsibility directly supports safe drinking water and uninterrupted service for the community. REQUIRES
two years of experience as a skilled worker in building and mechanical repair work in a relevant trade (HVAC, boilers, hydraulics, pumps and motors etc.). An additional related technical education certificate or diploma may be substituted for one year experience. Must possess a valid State -issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. May be required to obtain a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) Class A, B, or C issued by the State of Missouri prior to the end of the employee's probationary period.(Appropriate CDL will be determined by the department). Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
