Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to perform preventive maintenance and repair tasks as it relates to primarily plumbing, electrical, and carpentry related tasks for all County buildings. The work is performed under the supervision of the Supervisor-General Maintenance. Performs overall general building maintenance and repairs. Documents completed work in work order ticket system. Performs maintenance, repairs, and installs for plumbing fixtures, fire suppression and piping, electrical and lighting equipment. Assists with preventative maintenance, repairs and install of security electronics equipment including security systems, cameras and door controls. Performs painting tasks with guidance. Repairs holes/cracks, sands and seals surfaces to be painted. Selects, mixes and applies paint. Assists with repairs and replaces doors, blinds, countertops, base molding, carpet, and other flooring. Assists with building free standing furniture, cubicles, desks, storage units and panels. Hangs or removes a variety of items such as signs, artwork, nameplates, bulletin boards or maps. Patch and paint the wall as needed to address damage. During assigned rotation schedule, responds to on-call service requests for general maintenance as needed, outside of normal business hours. Responds to emergencies for component and system failures. Participates in a weekly rotation assigned to the Corrections building to perform work order tickets. Works as part of the Snow-Duty on-call assignment. Removes snow from walkways and parking lots and spreads ice melt products as directed. May occur during normal business hours or on-call on an as needed basis. Uses and maintains a variety of power tools and equipment to perform duties. Cleans shop and carpentry area and maintain cleanliness of vehicles and report vehicle deficiencies for repairs. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Requires high school diploma or equivalent from general or technical high school.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years general building maintenance experience. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Individuals with building access to areas with confidential data such as
MULES/REJIS
databases used in law enforcement are required to successfully pass a fingerprint background check and maintain a clear record throughout employment. Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
