Job Description
Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safety, maintenance, and repair of the facilities, grounds, and furnishings of SEMRHI. As a team member, this position demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform assigned duties and responsibilities. The Maintenance Technician must also demonstrate the ability to communicate and interact appropriately with staff, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while remaining sensitive to cultural and religious beliefs. Job Responsibilities Provide scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs for facilities and equipment. Review work orders daily and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. Schedule and prioritize workload efficiently. Coordinate with staff and leadership to maintain effective communication between Administration and facilities operations. Read and interpret equipment manuals to remain current on the functions and proper operation of equipment. Provide Administration with warranties, guarantees, and other necessary documentation for installed appliances or equipment. Diagnose problems, repair or replace parts, test systems, and make necessary adjustments. Monitor and perform regular preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment. Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment and report defective materials or unusual situations. Communicate equipment needs and potential modifications with leadership. Perform a variety of plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical maintenance tasks. Maintain lawns and grounds to ensure they remain neat and well maintained. Provide back-up support for housekeeping duties as needed. Provide courier and transportation services as necessary. Respond to calls or pages in a timely manner. Attend mandatory in-service programs, staff meetings, staff development workshops, and seminars as required or recommended. Provide back-up support to all clinics and SEMRHI buildings when security systems are breached at any center. Operate the maintenance department vehicle/van to travel between SEMRHI facilities, transport tools, equipment, and materials, and perform maintenance duties as needed. Secure buildings, grounds, and equipment areas each day before departing. Maintain prompt and regular attendance. Record time worked daily and verify timecards at the end of each pay period using the computer system. Complete required IT and security trainings prior to designated deadlines. Perform other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. One year of experience in repair, maintenance, or electrical work preferred. Technical or vocational schooling may substitute for work experience. Knowledge of small engine or mechanical repair preferred. Ability to operate lawn equipment and various maintenance tools. Basic electrical and plumbing skills required. Basic knowledge of equipment operation, installation, and assembly. Ability to navigate basic computer systems. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required in order to operate the maintenance department vehicle. Ability to stay current on preventative maintenance procedures. Ability to read and understand manufacturer instructions and troubleshooting guides. Good oral and written communication skills to maintain maintenance logs, repair documentation, and safety records. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Some weekend work may be required.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Ability to continuously listen, observe, and respond to maintenance needs and provide physical support to staff as required. Frequently required to move throughout facilities and grounds and perform activities such as sitting, squatting, reaching, bending, and using both arms and legs. Frequently required to climb ladders and work at varying heights as needed to perform maintenance tasks.
