Job Description

Job Summary Madison County School District is seeking a qualified District Maintenance Mechanic to support the operation and upkeep of all district vehicles and equipment. This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of fleet vehicles and small engine equipment. The position also supports general maintenance operations within the department. Duties Performing routine maintenance and repairs on district vehicles, including oil changes, brake service, lighting systems, inspections, and general upkeep Mounting and balancing tires, repairing flats, and maintaining proper tire condition across the district fleet Diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues on district fleet vehicles using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment Performing and tracking preventative maintenance on all district vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation Maintaining and repairing small engine equipment, including lawn mowers, tractors, bush hogs, trailers, weed eaters, and chain saws Assisting with grounds maintenance tasks such as bush hogging and grass cutting Maintaining accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory Maintaining the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the maintenance shop and shop yard Following all safety procedures and regulations related to equipment operation, shop practices, and maintenance activities Supporting overall maintenance operations and performing other duties as assigned Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Certified mechanic or equivalent verifiable experience in automotive repair Experience in small engine repair and maintenance Valid driver's license Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical issues
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Welding experience Experience working with fleet vehicles or in a school or municipal setting Experience with tire mounting and balancing equipment
