Job Title:
Summer Camp Maintenance Technician Job Description The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports daily operations at the Judson Mead Geologic Field Station by performing building maintenance, groundskeeping, and custodial work. You'll work both indoors and outdoors, take ownership of your tasks, and help maintain a safe, clean, and functional campus environment. Responsibilities Perform routine building maintenance, including minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs. Use hand and power tools to diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct maintenance issues. Monitor building conditions and promptly report maintenance needs or safety hazards. Carry out groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, and debris removal. Perform routine custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and waste removal. Prepare, set up, and reset spaces for events and activities according to established requirements. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to 70 pounds as needed. Support preventive maintenance activities on building systems and equipment as assigned. Assist with basic HVAC and mechanical troubleshooting under guidance or according to established procedures. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping, or custodial services. Ability to perform minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general repair tasks. Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively. Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Experience with preventive maintenance and service tasks on building systems or equipment. Ability to perform groundskeeping and landscaping tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, and debris removal. Capability to perform routine custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and waste removal. Ability to lift up to 70 pounds safely as part of daily work duties. Commitment to following safety procedures and using required PPE at all times. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, including in hot outdoor conditions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting HVAC systems, including basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks Strong attention to detail when inspecting facilities and identifying maintenance needs or safety hazards. Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and complete assignments with minimal supervision. Willingness to assist with event setup and room resets to support operational needs. Comfort working in a hands-on, active role that involves a variety of maintenance and custodial tasks. Why Work Here? Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for certain tasks, and safety procedures guide daily activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cardwell, MT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
