Performance evaluated annually Position Overview The General Maintenance & Facilities Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the school district's buildings, equipment, and grounds. This position supports a safe, functional, and efficient learning environment by performing routine maintenance tasks, responding to repair requests, and assisting with facility upgrades under the guidance of the Facilities Director. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems, plumbing, lighting, and building structures Perform repairs on doors, windows, furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed Respond to and complete maintenance work orders in a timely and efficient manner Assist with preventative maintenance programs across multiple campuses Support custodial and groundskeeping staff as needed Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and service schedules Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and responsibly Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards Provide support for school events, emergency response, or special facility projects Communicate effectively with school staff and vendors regarding maintenance needs Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical training preferred Experience in general maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work Familiarity with maintenance tools, safety protocols, and troubleshooting techniques Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in various environments and weather conditions Valid driver's license with clean driving record Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and self-motivation Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Work Schedule Full-time (40 hours/week), with flexibility for after-hours emergencies or school functions Year-round employment, including breaks and summer projects. Scheduling may change as it pertains to 5 or 4-day school week and summer breaks.
Pay:
$15.80 - $20.50 per hour
