Job Description

Position Overview Dereka's High Country Vacations is looking for a dependable, experienced Maintenance Technician to help maintain and improve our portfolio of vacation rental properties in the Sugar Mountain area. This position is ideal for someone with strong handyman experience and a general knowledge of residential maintenance systems. The right candidate will be comfortable handling day-to-day repair needs, identifying larger issues before they become bigger problems, and helping keep properties guest-ready year-round and wanting steady income. This is a hands-on role that includes general repairs, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and support for larger property improvement projects as needed. Key Responsibilities Perform general property maintenance and repairs across multiple vacation rental homes and condos Troubleshoot and complete basic plumbing, electrical, drywall, appliance, and carpentry-related repairs Complete preventative and seasonal maintenance tasks Inspect properties for repair needs, safety concerns, and wear and tear Assist with unit turns when maintenance-related items are found during inspections Help track maintenance work performed, materials used, and follow-up needs through company apps and systems Support minor renovation, upgrade, or improvement projects as needed Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with guests, owners, vendors, and coworkers Qualifications Prior experience in property maintenance, residential maintenance, handyman work, or a related field Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, drywall repair, and general home repair Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage time well across multiple properties Good communication and follow-through Comfortable using a smartphone for company apps, communication, and work tracking Reliable transportation required with 4 wheel drive Must provide basic hand tools; specialty tools will be provided by the company Preferred Qualifications Experience working in hospitality maintenance, or residential property management Experience with minor construction or remodeling work Hot tub certification or experience servicing hot tubs is a plus Ability to identify when an issue can be repaired in-house versus when a vendor should be called Schedule Standard weekly work schedule Some weekends and holidays may be required depending on business needs and emergency maintenance situations Additional Information Compensation will be discussed during the interview process and will vary based on experience. We are prepared to offer market-competitive pay for the right candidate.
