Job Description

  • ☒ Nonexempt ☐ Exempt Position Summary The industrial maintenance technician's primary responsibility is the upkeep and maintenance of both the facility and the equipment within it.
This will involve hands on work including diagnosis, repair, and installation of new and existing equipment. It also includes working with outside contractors on an as needed basis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts from equipment by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, electronic measuring tools, plumb bobs, measuring tools, etc.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
  • Maintains equipment, parts and supplies in inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level. Anticipates needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and recurring needs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities) The preferred skills are outlined below. The required skills and attributes are noted as such:
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • 1-3 years' experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical and/or mechanical equipment such as motors, conveyors, pumps, gas burners, and PLC's is required.
  • A complete set of basic hand tools including an electrical multimeter is required.
  • Electrical experience ranging from 12v DC up to 3-phase 480v AC is preferred.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience is preferred.
  • Welding experience is preferred.   • The work environment is not temperature controlled, although break and office spaces are.
  • The industrial maintenance technician must be able to lift 50 pounds.
