Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit Facilities Operations has the responsibility of providing a wide range of services to the entire UNCG campus. Services include all aspects of corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure maintenance and operations, business operations, safety, regulatory compliance, project management, and renovations. These duties are conducted for a campus consisting of over 100 buildings totaling 6 million gross square feet on over 275 acres. Position Summary The Sign Technician position provides design, layout, enlarging, vinyl cutting, engraving, and routing of interior and exterior building signs, entranceways, directional signs, vehicle signs, and other special sign projects as assigned. Will provide technical consultation to customers regarding the selection of size, location, color, and purpose of signs. Will maintain and advise customers of UNCG signs standards, ADA requirements, and governmental sign regulations. This is a mandatory position as defined in the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event policy. Mandatory employees are expected to report to or remain at work during adverse weather and emergency events and, if deemed necessary, to work a differing schedule or shift than normally assigned. This position may also be required to attend Emergency Callbacks, outlined in the Facilities Operations Standard Operating Procedure. Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE
IN THE TRADE AREAS RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT MAY BE SUBSTITUTED ON A YEAR-FOR-YEAR BASIS.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates A valid driver's license is required. Preferred Qualifications Five years of experience in commercial sign making, maintenance, and installation. Knowledge and experience in graphic design software for sign-making. Fabrication experience and ability to work with different construction materials. Ability to use a computer including email, Microsoft Word and Excel, and CMMS software. Experience and certification using a telescopic boom lift or willingness to go to training and obtain the certification. Previous experience working in commercial or university environments.
