Job Description

Western Products is seeking a Window & Door Measure Technician in Bismarck or Jamestown, ND, to own the most critical step in every window and door job—getting it right before production and installation begin. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who understands construction at a high level and can diagnose conditions, define install methods, and deliver precise measurements with zero guesswork. If you've installed windows and know what can go wrong—and how to prevent it—we want to talk. What You'll Do Take precise field measurements for residential window and door replacement projects Identify existing window types (full frame, insert, mulled units, etc.) and determine the correct replacement approach Evaluate exterior conditions, including siding and cladding (vinyl, steel, LP, wood, etc.), and how the new system will tie in Define the installation method before ordering to eliminate surprises during production and install Detect potential issues early, including out-of-square openings, rot, framing inconsistencies, and structural concerns Ensure all measurements align with manufacturer specs and production requirements Required Experience 3+ years of experience in window/door installation, exterior remodeling, or advanced carpentry Proven ability to accurately measure replacement windows in existing homes Strong understanding of window systems and replacement types, exterior cladding and trim systems, and installation methods and sequencing Ability to diagnose field conditions and make sound install decisions up front High attention to detail—mistakes in this role have real cost impact Comfortable using tablets/mobile devices for documentation Why This Role Matters This role is the bridge between sales and production.
