Posting Details Posting Summary Position Title Maintenance Mechanic Job Category Support Staff Salary Range $47,825 Position Type Full Time Department Repairs and Maintenance Job Summary Performs a wide variety of routine to moderately complex Plant and Maintenance tasks required to assure the proper maintenance of campus buildings. This position has an Essential Employee Verification Card. Daily building checks which include the maintenance mechanics to inspect their assigned area(s) at the start of their shift. Each mechanic must inspect lights, door entrances, rest rooms, classrooms, offices and corridors. Reports any problems back to the Maintenance Systems Coordinator. Repairs minor plumbing problems pertaining to interior and exterior areas of their assigned buildings. Includes repairing of toilets, sinks, waste lines, water service line, shutoff valve, sewer line, traps and faucets. Required to occasionally work with plumber's torch to sweat copper fittings and joints. May require the use of power hand tools. Paints interior and exterior surfaces of buildings. Prepares surfaces prior to painting, which includes spackling, sanding, and priming surfaces before applying top coat. Areas painted include ceilings, floors, doors, door jams and walls. Performs preventative maintenance work orders that are generated by the computerized maintenance system. Replaces interior/exterior light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and ceiling tiles in classrooms, offices, corridors, rest rooms, lounge, cafeteria, gymnasium, etc. May be required to use a ladder or electric lift. Maintenance of exterior building surfaces which require minor masonry repairs which include painting, caulking of joints and surfaces around doors and windows to prevent a water penetration problem. Performs the installation, adjustment/repair of locks, cut new or duplicate keys using key cutting machines, rekey locks and install crash bar assemblies, etc. Performs minor construction projects which include modifications to existing walls, doors, modular partitions, ceilings, etc. Performs other duties as assigned which may include, but not limited to, snow removal, cleaning of entrances to buildings, moving furniture, dispensing gasoline, etc. Qualifications

• Education High school diploma or equivalency preferred. Qualifications
• Experience Minimum 2 years experience in building maintenance. Must use numerous power tools such as table saw, drills, belt sander, circular saw, etc. Qualifications
• Skills Prolonged periods standing, bending, stooping, and reaching.

Must have a full range of physical motion as required to properly operate manual and electric power tools. Must have balance necessary to traverse and work on scaffolding and roofs. Will work in a variety of environments and weather with exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals in both indoor and outdoor construction. Able to climb step ladders and roof access ladders. Must be able to regularly lift and carry 50 pounds.
