Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY
Great mechanics do not wait to be needed. They are always two steps ahead, keeping equipment running before problems arise and solving them decisively when they do. If that sounds like how you operate, this position will feel like exactly where you are supposed to be. We are placing a Maintenance Mechanic at a premier family-owned deli meat processing facility in Fairfield, NJ. This is a full-time opportunity in a stable, long-standing operation that depends on skilled hands to keep production moving every single day.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, conveyors, packaging equipment, and plant systems Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns during production and execute repairs with minimal downtime Conduct routine inspections and safety checks across all plant equipment Maintain accurate records of repairs, PM completions, and parts usage Coordinate with production supervisors to prioritize maintenance needs without disrupting output Support sanitation and food safety compliance as part of daily maintenance routines Assist with installation and commissioning of new or replacement equipment
WHAT YOU BRING
Minimum 2 to 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or processing facility Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair conveyors, pumps, mixers, slicers, and packaging machinery Basic electrical knowledge (motors, controls, sensors) is a strong plus Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and sanitary equipment standards Ability to work in cold, wet, and demanding production environments Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for the duration of your shift Self-starter mentality with a bias toward action and problem-solving USDA or meat processing facility experience is a significant advantage
COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE
Pay:
$24.00 to $32.00 per hour based on experience Day shift, Monday through Friday with overtime availability Full-time, direct-placement opportunity
