This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and packaging equipment to ensure maximum uptime, food safety compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, experience working in manufacturing or food production environments, and the ability to work independently in a physically demanding setting. Job Title/Type Reports to General Manager/Operations Manager Full-Time Day Shift / Weekend Availability as Needed Overtime Available During Peak Seasons Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair Perform preventive maintenance on fruit sorting, grading, washing, and packaging equipment Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues Troubleshoot conveyor systems, motors, gearboxes, pumps, belts, and packaging machinery Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime Facility & Operational Support Maintain facility systems including air compressors, refrigeration support systems, and basic plumbing Inspect machinery regularly to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns Assist with installation and setup of new equipment and production lines Maintain tools, maintenance shop organization, and spare parts inventory Safety & Compliance Follow all OSHA, GMP, and food safety regulations Ensure lockout/tagout procedures are followed during repairs Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair documentation Support sanitation and cleanliness standards within production areas Qualifications Required Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Card). 2+ years of maintenance mechanic experience in manufacturing, food processing, warehouse, or packaging environments Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills Basic electrical knowledge (motors, sensors, switches, VFDs) Ability to read manuals, schematics, and technical documents Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in refrigerated environments when necessary Preferred Experience Experience in food processing or produce repacking facilities Experience with Daumar Packing Machine (CB-148, NewTech, C-Pack Machines) Welding and fabrication experience Forklift certification Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Skills & Abilities Strong problem-solving skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Good communication and teamwork Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment Strong attention to detail and safety awareness Work Environment Industrial fruit repacking facility Exposure to wet floors, moving machinery, cold storage areas, and production noise Standing, bending, climbing, and lifting required throughout shift Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience ($25 - $35hr) Overtime opportunities Medical, Dental, Life, Vision and Disability insurance Paid time off and holidays Health Care and Dependent Care Spending Accounts 401K Retirement Plan Uniforms and tools provided (if applicable)
