3rd Shift Industrial Maintenance Technician Job Description This 3rd shift Industrial Maintenance Technician role focuses on monitoring and maintaining production machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, perform preventive maintenance according to a scheduled plan, and ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently. The position requires strong hands-on skills, the ability to read technical documentation, and the discipline to follow established procedures and safety practices. Responsibilities Monitor production machine operation during 3rd shift to identify malfunctions and abnormal conditions. Adjust machines to proper, documented specifications to maintain product quality and equipment performance. Perform preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with the scheduled maintenance plan. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial systems to minimize downtime. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine system functions and repair methods. Use PLC troubleshooting techniques and tools to identify and resolve control-related issues. Complete work orders accurately, including documenting work performed and parts used. Prepare clear reports and update maintenance records, including reporting hours per job completed. Use typical office software for communication, preparing work instructions, and documenting maintenance activities. Maintain the workshop and work areas in a clean, orderly manner in line with 5S principles. Keep tools and shop equipment clean, organized, and in good working order. Utilize the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times for general and specialized job functions. Work effectively in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment while maintaining attention to detail. Perform basic math calculations as needed for measurements, adjustments, and documentation. Lift and handle materials and equipment weighing up to 30-50 lbs as required by the job. Stand for an 8-hour shift while performing hands-on maintenance and production support activities. Collaborate with production workers and other team members to minimize downtime and support continuous operations. Essential Skills Hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, including mechanical and electrical repair. Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems and performing machine repair. Experience with electrical troubleshooting in an industrial environment. Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics in production machinery. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Experience with PLC troubleshooting for industrial equipment. Strong preventive maintenance skills and adherence to maintenance schedules. Basic computer skills, including use of standard office software for communication and documentation. Ability to perform basic math for measurements, adjustments, and reporting. Capability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment. Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift and lift 30-50 lbs safely. High school diploma. Two years of applicable trade school or college, five years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in industrial maintenance within a manufacturing setting. Familiarity with 5S principles and maintaining organized, efficient workspaces. Strong attention to safety and consistent use of appropriate PPE. Effective communication skills for collaborating with production workers and documenting work. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility on a 3rd shift schedule, Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with repetitive tasks and continuous machine operation. You will work in and around production areas where you must suit up according to site requirements and consistently wear appropriate PPE. Steel-toe or composite-toe shoes are required during the shift and for the interview. The work involves standing for an entire 8-hour shift, frequent hands-on tasks, and lifting items weighing up to 30-50 lbs. You will use a combination of industrial tools, diagnostic equipment, and standard office software while working in a setting that emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to 5S principl Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Belen, NM.
