Junior Maintenance Technician

Ascent Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a fast growing generic pharmaceutical company located in Central Islip, NY. Our core business is in the areas of Development, Manufacturing, Marketing and Distribution of high quality and cost-effective generic prescription medicines. Ascent has drug product development and commercial operations within its 309,000 square feet area. We are looking to fill 2 First Shift & 1 Second Shift positions 1st Shift is 7:00am - 3:30pm / 2nd Shift is 3:30pm - 12:00am [Both Mon-Fri]

Junior Maintenance Technician :

The Junior Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. This includes production machinery, utility systems, and packaging equipment. This role is ideal for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn in a GMP-regulated environment. The technician will work under supervision to ensure equipment reliability, compliance, and proper documentation of maintenance activities.

Responsibilities:

Assist in mechanical maintenance of pharmaceutical processing equipment and supporting utility systems. Support troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues across manufacturing systems. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and assist in breakdown maintenance to minimize downtime. Document maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in compliance with GMP requirements. Assist in installation, modification, and commissioning of new or existing equipment. Perform routine inspections to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. Replace basic mechanical components such as belts, bearings, filters, and gaskets under supervision. Support continuous improvement initiatives by reporting recurring issues and observations. Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces, tools, and maintenance areas. Follow all safety procedures and comply with FDA, OSHA, and internal quality standards. Complete required training and maintain compliance with company procedures and policies.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent. 0-1 year of experience in maintenance, mechanical work, or related field (internships/training acceptable) Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as pumps, motors, or conveyors preferred Familiarity with hand tools and basic maintenance practices. Willingness to learn about pneumatics, hydraulics, and pharmaceutical equipment. Basic understanding of GMP and regulated environments is a plus. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality Good communication and documentation skills.
