Commercial Building Part-Time Handyman

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Part Time Commercial Building Handyman to join our facilities maintenance team. The Handyman will be responsible for performing a variety of repair and maintenance duties to ensure the proper functioning and appearance of our commercial properties. The ideal candidate has strong general knowledge across multiple trades and is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

General Maintenance and Repairs:

Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on the building's interior and exterior. This includes tasks such as repairing walls, floors, and ceilings; touching up paint; and fixing broken fixtures.

Plumbing:

Perform minor plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing faucets or other fixtures.

Electrical:

Handle basic electrical tasks, such as replacing lightbulbs and ballasts, repairing or replacing outlets and switches, and troubleshooting minor electrical issues.

Carpentry:

Execute light carpentry work, such as assembling and repairing furniture, installing shelves, and repairing doors, frames, and trim.

HVAC Systems:

Perform basic maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, like changing filters and troubleshooting minor issues.

Building Inspections:

Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance issues, safety hazards, and areas in need of repair.

Response and Coordination:

Respond promptly to maintenance requests from tenants or property managers, and report the need for major repairs to management. Coordinate with specialized contractors for complex or licensed trade work.

Exterior Maintenance:

Assist with exterior tasks as needed, which may include power washing, gutter cleaning, and minor repairs to siding or signage.

Inventory Management:

Manage an inventory of tools, equipment, and repair supplies, and order new stock as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all work is performed according to safety standards and building regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a commercial maintenance, construction, or handyman role. Strong experience with plumbing and electrical systems, and a working knowledge of common hardware and power tools. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Strong communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with tenants and team members. Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces. Valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This role may require work in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, and potentially confined spaces or at heights. The position requires a high level of physical fitness and stamina.

$24.00 - $28.00 per hour
