Full-Time New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc (NESL) is looking for an RMC Plant Maintenance Mechanic to support our Buffalo Ready-Mixed Concrete operations. This position will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in concrete batch plant operations. - What Will You Do?
Perform routine and emergency maintenance on all plant equipment, including electrical systems, mechanical components, automation technologies, instrumentation, and control equipment. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions in machinery, control systems, electrical circuits, and other critical equipment, ensuring minimal downtime. This includes working with 800-amp service and 480/240/110-volt systems. Implement and oversee automation systems, including programming, calibration, and maintenance of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA systems, and other control equipment. Conduct regular inspections of plant machinery and automated systems, executing preventive maintenance strategies to enhance equipment reliability and longevity. Collaborate closely with plant management to schedule and execute maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations. Install, commission, and calibrate new equipment, with a focus on integrating and optimizing automation and control systems for enhanced plant efficiency. Maintain and update instrumentation devices, ensuring accurate measurement and control of plant processes. Train and guide other plant staff on the operation and maintenance of automation and control systems, enhancing team skill sets and operational knowledge. Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and best practices, especially when working with electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Maintain, service, and troubleshoot any and all electrical, PLC, and optical units. Keep accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, system updates, and the status of equipment, including documentation for automation and control systems.
Qualifications:
Completion of degree or certificate program in technical training related to electrical, mechanical, or automation maintenance is preferred. Completion of electrician apprenticeship is also preferred. In lieu of formal training, significant work experience in electrical maintenance may be considered. A high school diploma or the equivalent required. Minimum of two years of progressive experience in electrical and/or mechanical trade is required. Industrial plant maintenance experience in the construction materials industry is preferred. Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics is required. The ability to use electrical test equipment and small hand and power tools, such as wrenches, drills, soldering irons, volt-ohmmeters, amp meters, circuit testers, and vacuum and pressure gauges, is required. Proven experience in repairing and maintaining equipment drive systems, compressors, shakers/baghouses, boilers, water heaters, and conveyors. This includes some welding and fabricating. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills required. Demonstrate experience and ability to work outside in an aerial lift at heights up to 60 feet. Ability to work in an industrial plant setting with exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery. Ability to work assigned schedules, including overtime, on-call, nights, and weekends.
