Job Description

Maintenance Specialist (2nd Shift) Lake Katrine, NY $20-40/hr + shift differential A growing food production facility is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to support equipment reliability and facility operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and continuous production flow. This individual will operate as a hands-on problem solver, utilizing a diverse skill set across electrical, mechanical, and facility systems while working both independently and collaboratively to support internal operations teams. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Equipment Support Perform daily preventive maintenance on facility and production equipment based on direction from Facilities leadership Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to minimize downtime Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and part diagrams to effectively diagnose and repair equipment Respond to unscheduled maintenance requests using a work order system and follow through to resolution Operations & Process Improvement Provide updates on ongoing maintenance projects during weekly team meetings Identify and implement best practices for maintaining equipment and improving overall reliability Support continuous improvement initiatives through collaboration with internal teams and external vendors Inventory & Documentation Conduct inventory of spare parts and prepare parts orders for review and approval Complete and submit accurate work orders and documentation for all maintenance activities Maintain organized records of repairs, maintenance, and equipment performance Physical & Compliance Requirements Experience working with specialized tools and industrial equipment; basic computer proficiency required Must specialize in at least one trade (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, etc.) with 1+ year of experience or active apprenticeship Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments including heat and cold Adhere to all GMP, PPE, safety, and hygiene standards within a food production environment Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed (facility operates year-round) Qualifications Hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, or technical trades within a production or industrial environment Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical and/or mechanical systems Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting Strong communication skills and accountability to safety and operational standards Preferred Experience in food production or regulated manufacturing environments Exposure to PLC systems, welding, or multiple maintenance disciplines Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and work order systems #
