Peter & Paul and St. Ursula Church, Mount Vernon, NY 10552 Job Summary The Parish Facilities & Maintenance Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness, safety, and general maintenance of the Church and Rectory (Priests' residence), and surrounding grounds. This role requires a dedicated individual who takes pride in maintaining a sacred environment and ensuring all facilities are welcoming and functional for parishioners and staff. Key Responsibilities 1. Specialized Floor & Interior Care Perform expert care of church flooring, including regular sweeping, mopping, and stripping and waxing using an electric floor buffer/polisher. Clean and disinfect restrooms, pews, and high-touch surfaces daily. Daily maintenance and cleaning of church interior and sacristy 2. General Maintenance & Repairs Perform minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs. Patch, prime, and paint interior and exterior surfaces as needed to maintain a fresh appearance. Monitor heating and cooling systems 3. Rectory (Priests' Residence) Maintenance Ensure the Priests' residence is well-maintained, providing routine cleaning and immediate attention to any repair needs (plumbing, lighting, etc.) to ensure a comfortable living environment. 4. Grounds & Safety Watering and basic care of lawn and garden areas. Ensure all buildings are properly locked/unlocked according to the parish schedule. Monitor cleaning supplies and maintenance materials Qualifications & Skills Prior custodial or facilities maintenance experience in a church or school setting is preferred, as is experience in operating electric floor buffers. Skilled in using basic hand and power tools for various "handyman" repairs and painting projects.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and remain on your feet for extended periods.

Benefits & Compensation Salary:
