Ashland, OH Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting production and facility equipment—including automated systems—to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Supports production by minimizing downtime, performing equipment installations, and contributing to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting & Repair :
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and automated systems. Use PLCs, ladder logic, and HMIs for fault resolution.
Automation Support :
Maintain and support automated production equipment including robotics, conveyors, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance :
Execute scheduled maintenance on heading, threading, painting, packaging, and automation equipment.
Equipment Installation & Upgrades :
Assist with setup, installation, commissioning, and improvement of equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
Machine Setup & Changeover :
Support alignment and tooling adjustments during changeovers. Provide operator support during runs.
Facility & Utility Maintenance :
Maintain air compressors, lighting, water systems, and perform facility inspections.
Documentation :
Accurately complete work orders, downtime logs, and maintenance records. Communicate repair timelines with production leads.
Inventory Management :
Track usage of tools and parts; request reorders to avoid downtime.
Collaboration :
Work with production, engineering, and quality teams. Train operators in basic troubleshooting and equipment care.
Continuous Improvement :
Participate in root cause analysis and support equipment performance enhancements.
Safety & Compliance :
Follow OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies. Participate in safety programs, audits, and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance preferred 3+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, ideally in fasteners or metal forming Strong skills in automation, PLCs, ladder logic, and control systems Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and robotic systems Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals Skilled in minor machining or fabrication
Physical Requirements:
Regular standing, walking, bending, climbing, stooping, and reaching during shift Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and work in confined or elevated spaces Frequent kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, and working in awkward positions Use of power tools and hand tools for extended periods Work in varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and grease typical of a manufacturing environment Wear and maintain PPE (e.g., steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection) Respond quickly to equipment alarms and emergencies Must be available for overtime, weekend shifts, or on-call rotation as needed Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
