Construction and Maintenance Technician III
Location:
Orrville/Athens, OH Your role in our success: The Construction and Maintenance Technician (C&M) III is responsible for the safe operation, installation, and maintenance of Company system infrastructure and facilities, as well as emergency response within the service territory. This role leads crews, performs preventative and scheduled maintenance on the system, mentors and trains C&M Tech I and II employees, and oversees the team in the absence of the Supervisor. What you'll be doing: Lead pipeline maintenance activities such as leak repairs, cathodic protection installation, right-of-way clearing, and valve maintenance
Coordinate and lead operations in the absence of the Gas Operations Supervisor
Assist with maintaining adequate inventory levels
Support project estimate development, budgeting, and forecasting
Complete compliance requirements using work order management systems
Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to field crew members; foster a positive team environment
Inspect and maintain tools and equipment to ensure proper calibration and operation
Serve as Operator Qualification master evaluator
Assist in training C&M Technician I and II employees Where you'll be working: Primarily outdoor/field work
Weekend and on-call rotation required
Exposure to noise, weather, gas, electricity Who you are: Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of gas utility experience in a mechanical or industrial role
CDL, Class B required
Ability to obtain HazMat endorsement within 12 months if not already held
Strong commitment to safety for self, team, customers, and community
Advanced knowledge of natural gas and propane distribution systems, including underground equipment, system sectionalization, and outage mitigation
Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office and work systems)
Proficiency with tools and materials used in underground maintenance and repair
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strong communication skills across all levels
