Position:
Saint Ignatius High School, a highly successful Jesuit college preparatory school for boys in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable and energetic maintenance technician to work with our Campus Operations team to maintain the upkeep of our facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a hard-working, meticulous work ethic along with a positive, customer service attitude. The successful candidate will bring demonstrable general knowledge and experience with basic building systems, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, doors and hardware, fire alarm and basic carpentry as well as other areas commonly found in a large school setting. A working knowledge of common tools, combined with the knowledge of systems will assist in ensuring that the facilities are properly functioning at all times, while maintaining equipment. This is a full-time, non-exempt, year-round position with standard hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Hours may be modified depending on seasonal needs. Some overtime during the week and weekends is expected. The position reports to the Director of Campus Operations or designee.
Primary Areas of Responsibility:
Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair. Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs. (e.g. toilets, sinks, lighting, etc.) Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed. Performs general electrical work Performs general repairs. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures. Repair, maintain and monitor all equipment and small cleaning appliances. Change filters for HVAC and coil cleaning as required. Helps to maintain the aesthetics of the exterior property; including snow removal if needed. Performs routine maintenance on building systems. Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities. Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance. Maintains a clean and well managed work area Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent 5 years or more of building maintenance experience Certification in specialized field (i.e. electrical, carpentry, HVAC) is a plus Ability to walk, climb extended ladders, stretch, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds Valid driver's license required and must meet school's insurability requirements as driving school vehicles is an essential component of the role. Ability to operate a computer, check email and perform research for work related items. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the following: Ability to read, understand, and execute written plans and directions. Customer service focused and detail oriented. Good interpersonal communication skills. Professional attitude, demeanor, and work ethic. Ability to work both independently and in a team setting. Flexibility and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends. Familiarity with unique Jesuit identity and school mission.

Saint Ignatius High School, which opened its doors September 6, 1886, is a Jesuit college
  • preparatory school.
The school enrolls more than 1,400 young men who hail from 92 cities in an 11-county region. Located in close proximity to downtown Cleveland in the vibrant and energetic Ohio City neighborhood, the school occupies 25 acres and includes 20 buildings and three athletic fields.
