Job Description
Overview:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on manufacturing equipment, building systems, and production support infrastructure used in the fabrication of metal roofing products. The role ensures minimal downtime, promotes equipment reliability, and supports safe, efficient plant operations. Maintenance Technician Key Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production machinery (e.g., roll formers, slitters, presses, shears, forklifts, and wrapping equipment). Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Inspect and maintain drive systems, bearings, motors, conveyors, and control panels. Assist in setup and calibration of equipment for production runs. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation for all repairs and inspections. Maintain facility infrastructure including lighting, HVAC, air compressors, and water systems. Support maintenance of building structures, roofing, and safety systems (e.g., fire suppression, emergency lighting). Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Follow all lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and electrical safety procedures. Conduct safety inspections on equipment and report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly. Participate in continuous improvement programs focused on equipment reliability and safety. Work closely with production operators to resolve equipment issues efficiently. Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery or upgrades. Communicate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or part sourcing. Source manufacturers and place orders for necessary tooling, equipment, and materials to support operations. Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting on forklifts, completing in-house repairs whenever possible to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance. Assist in maintaining the company fleet, including Conestoga trailers, Moffitts, and other vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, reliable, and well-maintained. Maintenance TechnicianQualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance or a related field. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and HMI systems (Upkeep system preferred). Familiarity with CNC controls, extruders, and industrial automation equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform manual tasks as required. Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and noise.
