Job Description

Maintenance Technician

  • Friday Responsibilities Perform a balanced mix of preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on production and facility equipment, with approximately 50% of time dedicated to each.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, large gear boxes, air compressors, and chain and belt conveyors. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 480V three-phase motors, 24V sensors and photoeyes, LED lighting, and variable frequency drives (VFDs). Replace and maintain large LED lighting systems mounted on ceilings throughout the buildings. Execute project-based work such as upgrading conveyors and their components and supporting facilities-type projects, including office space modifications and moving furniture. Perform preventive maintenance during non-production hours, typically between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., unless reactive repairs are still required. When product remains on conveyors at the end of production, complete the remaining production tasks, shut down conveyors, and then perform scheduled preventive maintenance. Collaborate with 1st and 2nd shift maintenance teams during an overlap period to ensure effective work order pass-down and continuity of maintenance activities. Log all maintenance work, repairs, and projects into the PLEX online maintenance system in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain clear written communication by recording notes throughout the shift in a small notepad and transferring relevant information into pass-down books and work orders. Support general facility maintenance needs, including basic plumbing and HVAC-related tasks as required. Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with high-voltage equipment and large mechanical systems within a distribution environment. Essential Skills Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including work with 24V to 480V systems. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing 480V three-phase motors. Experience working with 24V sensors and photoeyes in an industrial setting. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs). Mechanical troubleshooting experience with hydraulics and pneumatics. Hands-on experience with large gear boxes and air compressors. Ability to maintain and repair chain and belt conveyor systems. Experience replacing and maintaining large LED lighting systems in industrial facilities. Capability to balance preventive maintenance and reactive repair tasks. Ability to accurately log work into an online maintenance system such as PLEX. Strong written communication skills for maintaining pass-down books and daily notes. Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) in a distribution environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with plumbing tasks in a commercial or industrial setting. Exposure to or experience with HVAC systems in a facility environment. VFD troubleshooting and repair beyond basic operation. Prior experience in a distribution or warehousing operation. Familiarity with project-based maintenance work, including equipment upgrades and facility modifications. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a large distribution campus with approximately 7 million square feet of total distribution space across multiple buildings. The operation focuses on distributing store items packaged in bulk and stored in racking. The Maintenance Engineer works on 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with an hour of overlap alongside 1st and 2nd shift technicians for effective pass-down and collaboration. The facility is clean and climate controlled, with two buildings dedicated to cold storage. Work involves navigating extensive conveyor systems, high-bay racking areas, and large mechanical and electrical installations, including overhead LED lighting and high-voltage equipment. Standard industrial attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are required to safely perform duties in this active distribution environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tipp City, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00
  • $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
